Full Job Description
Polar Clean, a global leader in dry ice blasting services, is hiring a Lead Field Technician to help us take the next leap forward in our growth. We’re a young and fast-growing company that thinks and operates like a start-up; we’ve experienced terrific growth and we need to add horsepower to our technical field team as our business grows.
Dry ice blasting is a ground-breaking cleaning technology that out-performs abrasive blasting, water blasting, and conventional cleaning methods in many markets and applications. Dry ice blasting is the preferred solution when a client requires no water, no chemicals or no abrasive media clean-up, and Polar Clean is an industry leader with broad application and operations expertise. We work routinely in about 20 different states across a few key industries: food processing, general manufacturing facilities, building restoration, power plants, oil refineries, and petro-chemical processing facilities.
What we’re looking for: We need creative problem solvers to join our team as LEAD TECHNICIANS. Your first responsibility is to ensure the safety of your team; there’s absolutely no room here for anyone that cuts corners when it comes to safety. You’ll be an enthusiastic and responsible leader, organizing and driving your team while working in our clients’ facilities. You’ll also be on point for client communications on site, ensuring that we deliver a satisfactory level of clean and represent the company in a professional manner. You’ll also be the first stop for troubleshooting our equipment in the field, so technical aptitude and hands-on experience with equipment is a must.
This is a physically demanding job that requires hands-on blasting. You will need to be comfortable working at heights and potentially in confined spaces (which can include additional incentive pay). We travel across the country to serve our clients; while a lot of our work takes place in the Midwest, we also serve clients all over Texas and have recently completed projects in places like Washington, D.C., Salt Lake City and Florida. You may need to travel up to 50% of the time.
What we offer: We offer extensive paid training to take you through our proprietary Dry Ice Blasting Certification course (we developed the first course like this in the world). As our company grows, we’re adding new positions often, and we want to bring in new employees who will work hard for promotions based on performance (and the additional pay that comes with them).
We pay an additional per hour incentive to our lead technicians for successful project completion, and cover hotel and travel costs. We also pay out a daily per diem for meals while traveling, which usually makes up an additional $2,500 – $5,000 per year to spend as you wish. Overtime and incentive pay has averaged out to an extra $1.50 – $2.00 per hour in 2019 and 2020 for our field team, on top of their base pay. Benefits include medical, vision & dental insurance and 401k with match.
About you: You have experience in a team leader or supervisory role. You’re committed to the success of your team and are motivated to impress our clients with our services. You’re upbeat and technically curious; you like to get your hands dirty and love the satisfaction of a job well done. You can think quickly on the fly and adapt a plan as necessary.
